- By 1979, the number of terrorist attacks increased to over 2500
- As the popularity of the Left wing increased, so did the terror attacks

- The CIA had become an autonomous organization in many ways
- Aldo Moro, Prime Minister of Italy was murdered after being kidnapped and held for 55 days
